Geronimo arrives at the Golden Gate after crossing the Pacific.
Geronimo off of San Francisco.
Jume 11, 2006 - On a cold (brrrrrr) and crappy San Francisco day* the trimaran Geronimo sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge at 5:43 PM PDST. She set sail from Yokohama, Japan on May 29th, Olivier de Kersauson and his crew of eight took 13 days 22 hours 38 minutes and 28 secs to blast across the 4482 miles of the Pacific. They beat the record held by Bruno Peyron by 18 hours and 44 minutes. Would you guys like some cheese that orangina?
*(Hey tourists! come to SF in the Fall when it's warm, Summer in La Ciudad = Brrrr... That's why they sell sweatshirts like crazy at Fisherman's Wharf. Mark Twain said, "The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco." )
