Waltzing Matilda. Where Would You Go, If You Were Going To Australia?

I have a question for my Australian readers.
Where would you go, if you were going to Oz? (If you've been there, you can answer too.)

  1. Sydney. (Kayaking and SUP the harbour.)
  2. Melbourne. (My Australian tenant who is from Sydney said, "Why on Earth would you go to Melbourne? It's like Cleveland! Because the Sabre is from there and I can buy a sail!)
  3. Tasmania.
  4. The Great Barrier Reef. a. Heron Island. (Luxury....my wife's choice) b. The Whitsundays.(sailing baby, sailing...my choice) c. Port Douglas.
  5. Ningaloo Marine Park. (Western Oz alternative to the Great Barrier.)
  6. Perth. (Why not.)
  7. Lord Howe Island. (World Heritage site, you can surf, snorkel and dive there)
  8. Noosa Head. (All praise Tom Wegener!!!!! Fraser Island is just up the coast. Then a little further is Heron.)

Mind you, I have been to Oz 4 times...... It was many moons ago, My Dad dragged the clan down under to scope out the territory. He toyed with the idea of emigrating. Please, please don't mention Alice Springs or Ayers Rock. Been there, done that.  Once was enough.

My wife and I are going in September. We will be on the ground for 14.5 days. I'm thinking 3 stops. What do you think?

Speaking Of Circumnavigators: Around Britain In A Small Boat.

Dylan Winter is a "middle aged, middle class man, from middle England" who is sailing his small boat around Britain.

"My plan is to push my pudgy little bow into every estuary and river worth exploring as I undertake my 4 year journey around the coast of Britain - actually it might take a bit longer than four year..."  "I am sailing around the UK in a £2,000 40 year old yacht designed by a socialist newspaper as a yacht for the working man. I have done a year so far – from the isle of wight to the east coast – all done between jobs as a pro cameraman."

Dylan is my kind of guy.
"If you're after a sailing adventure that includes storms and danger, well as both a cameraman and an inveterate coward I try to sail only when the sun is shinning and the light good."

Follow Dylan's adventure at his channel on YouTube. Three cheers mate for living your dream!

4th, 4th, 4th, 2004. I Think....Maybe....Who Knows?

Yes, I feel like the guy in the pot, very confused.

Firenze, Toscana, Italia 2004

Through a tear in the space time continuum I tag Albert Einstein, Erik The Red, and a shark, named Tibby, from the late Silurian age. Have fun guys, post those pics or fossils in a hole where my team of archeologists and Bill, the paleontologist, can find them.
